Pittsburgh Steelers @ Oakland Raiders Betting Tips - 09/12/18

Event name: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Oakland Raiders

Location: Oakland Coliseum

Event date: 09/12/2018

The Pittsburgh Steelers head to Oakland this weekend to take on the Raiders as they look to take back control of the AFC North. The Steelers are still top of the division but their lead has now been cut to head-to-head following two straight defeats. The Raiders are bottom of a tough AFC West with just two wins.

The Steelers looked a sure bet to win the AFC North just a couple of weeks ago but two straight defeats against the Broncos and the Chargers respectively have left them with only a head-to-head lead over the Ravens with a record of 7-5. Now, the Steelers will have to battle hard to finish top and to get that all-important bye for the first round of the playoffs. The Steelers actually held a 16-point lead over the Chargers last time out after starting brilliantly, but they ended up losing 33-30. Despite that, they will be confident of returning to winning ways here.

The Raiders have endured another tough season, though they expected as much with Jon Gruden and co looking at this as a long-term project. They’ll certainly be looking forward to an early-round draft pick next year and in that respect, it may be better if they lose the majority of their last four games. They come into this one bottom of a tough AFC West with a record of 2-10, losing seven of their last eight games. Last time out, they put in a good performance, but lost 40-33 to divisional rivals the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders only had one player absent from Thursday’s practice through injury with Kyle Wilber missing out. Rodney Hudson and Maurice Hurst were among seven players who were limited. Jordy Nelson has returned from an injury.

The Steelers had four DNPs in Thursday’s practice. Ramon Foster, Marcus Gilbert, Anthony Chickillo and James Connor were all absent through injury. Ryan Switzer and Antonio Brown both fully participated on Thursday after sitting out earlier in the week.

The Steelers need to get back to winning ways and this is the perfect game for them to do that, even if the Raiders have been much better in the last three weeks. This won’t be straightforward, it rarely is at the Oakland Coliseum in front of a passionate home support, but the Steelers will almost certainly win this.
